In March 28, 2010 someone wrote a post on a blog, where they explain that the Seal of God is the Holy Spirit, and I quote:
“From these verses, it looks like the Holy Spirit seals us to show that we belong to Him when we believe…”
then they go on to quote the following verses to discredit the teaching of the World Mission Society Church of God that the Passover is the way to receive the Seal of God:
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 — …set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit…
Ephesians 1:13-14 — …Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit…
Ephesians 4:30-32 — And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed…
But these verses do not contradict the teaching that the Passover is the way to receive the Seal of God. To understand this verses correctly, first you need to have a correct interpretation of the Trinity, that Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the same God. As the Bible explains Jesus Christ is the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:9 — You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you, And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
here the Spirit of God is referred to as the Spirit of Christ. Thus Jesus and Holy Spirit are the same one.
Acts 16:6-7 — …having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. …but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.
Here the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Jesus are the same. Thus Jesus is the Holy Spirit. one more:
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 — …set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit…
Galatians 4:6 — Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts…
There are more testimonies in the Bible about this, but I will omit them for the sake of space. The above verses should be sufficient to let you understand that to receive the Holy Spirit in us, would be the same as to receiving Christ in us. Then how can we receive Christ in us?
John 6:53-55 — Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
Jesus himself declared that when we receive His body and blood He remains in us and we in him, thus we receive Christ in us. Then how can we receive the body and the blood Christ? as per Jesus Himself:
Luke 22:13, 19-20 – They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared for the Passover… And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Then through the Passover we can receive Jesus Christ in us, thus we receive the Holy Spirit in us as well.
The Holy Spirit is the seal of God, but by celebrating the Passover we can have confirmation from God that we have received the seal of God.
